Guided Fishing
We are proud to offer online booking for our guided fishing trips. Guiding since 1981, our guides will provide you will expert knowledge and lasting memories. While Fly Fishing is our bread and butter, we also do conventional fishing, too.
We offer fishing trips in four different fisheries for multiple species, including Trout, Bass, Pike, Kokanee Salmon, and more.
Scenic River Float
Join us for a half-day of gently floating down the beautiful Coeur d’Alene River with a cool drink in your hand. The warm sun overhead and the gentle breeze tussling your hair will melt the worries of tomorrow away, disappearing with the current of out beautiful CdA River.
We’ll do the rowing you and your kids will do the swimming and relaxing.

Destinations
Coeur d'Alene River
The Coeur d’Alene River features some of the finest scenery in North Idaho. It’s a healthy fishery, filled primarily with cutthroat. Only a 40 minuet drive from Cd’A to the river put in; this is our most popular trip. A full day excursion includes gear, your guide, boat, transportation, and picnic style lunch for 1 to 2 Anglers.
The Coeur d’Alene River is the only location in the world to catch a Westslope Black Tail Cutthroat. Also, populations of rainbow trout, mountain whitefish, and pike minnow.
Hayden Lake
Hayden Lake is considered the best warm water fishery in North Idaho. Castaway Fly Fishing Shop is the outfitter with exclusive guide permits on this beautiful lake fostering, Crappie, Trout, Pike, kokanee and Bass worthy of a feature story in Field and Stream. Located only five miles northeast of the City of Coeur d’Alene, Hayden Lake’s crystal clear water and timbered shores make it one of the most beautiful and popular lakes in the Inland Northwest. On Hayden Lake, pike and bass are large enough to be to satisfy any monster hunter.
There are three fish Castaway guides for:
Pike – Peak time Mid April to June
Crappie – Peak time Mid May to Mid June
Small Mouth Bass – Peak time June to July
Spokane River
Lake Coeur d’Alene is the source of this powerful and altitude descending river joining the Columbia River at the base of its journey. The Spokane River traverses two States, four counties and seven dams. It’s a natural extension of the Coeur d’Alene and as such is a fantastic fishery.
This river boasts a population of rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and brown trout.

We track the river flows, follow the hatches, and understand how the wild and unpredictable weather affects our rivers and streams. Our season is Mid March through Mid November, weather permitting. We pride ourselves on offering this true North Idaho fishing trip. We feel blessed to be fly fishing Coeur d’Alene Idaho and guided trips are an excellent way to learn how to fly fish or spin fish and know what to fish with and when. All trips are private, singular experiences tailored to your skill level.
Fishing license
You will be responsible for purchasing your own fishing license from the State of Idaho. You can do so in our shop on the day of your trip or here.
FISHING GEAR
Please come prepared for all weather. You can rent and purchase equipment from us or bring your own.
Pack sunglasses, a hat/visor, quick dry clothing, strapped sandals or water shoes, fishing licenses, sunscreen, sun wear, layered clothing for spring and fall, and swimwear if you’d like to take a dip to cool off during the summer in between casts.
What’s Included
All fishing trips include private guide, fishing gear; this includes flies, rods, poles, tackle, (waders depending on guide and trip choice). We pack life jackets, soft drinks, water, mid day riverside lunch (for full day trips), drift boat or raft, and transportation can be arranged in advance for pick up at a hotel if needed. Our trips combine fishing from boat and shore (as desired). We have room for one to two people.
